PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper which is so excellent in leakage prevention property that it gives a wearer a sense of relief by improving a fitting property at the time of wearing of the diaper as well as maintaining the shape of an absorptive body against increase in amount of absorption. SOLUTION: The disposable diaper 10A comprises a yarn-like elastic material 4 which is disposed on a back sheet extending from the back to the abdomen through the groin of a human body so as to cross the absorbing body in a vertical direction at the time of wearing, a crashed pulp, a synthetic fiber, and a polymeric water-absorbing material, etc. In this diaper 10, if the wearer urinates or evacuates due to incontinence, when the diaper is increased in weight due to an excrement absorbed by the absorbing body 3, the tension of the material 4 crossing the body 3 in the vertical direction maintains the shape- maintaining property to prevent leakage of the excrement.
