The knife bar 10 of a guillotine paper cutting machine is reciprocated by means of a pair of pull rods 15, 18, there being guide means 53, 58 at one end of the bar for effecting a straight line motion which is in the direction of the axis of the rod 18 when the latter is at the ends of its stroke. The rods 15, 18 are reciprocated by cranks 21, 25 which are driven through worm gearing 31 coupled to a flywheel 44 through a magnetic clutch 41. The guided end of the knife bar is connected to the pull rod 18 by means of a pivot block 53 which slides in a guide slot 58 in the frame F of the machine. |
