A machine tool has two transverse tool carriages (13,14) moved by a motor on a machine frame for carrying a processing device (26) with operating spindles and a workpiece carrier for holding workpieces for processing. The tool carriage has a transverse carrier moving on the machine frame with the two transverse tool carriages, between which the processing device moves the operating spindles axially via a coupling mechanism with rigid swivelling arms (31,32).
