1,227,020. Measuring yarn tension electrically. ZELLWEGER Ltd. Oct.11, 1968 [Nov.23, 1967], No.48287/68. Heading G1N. Apparatus for measuring tension in a moving yarn 1 comprises first and second rollers 3 and 6 of equal diameters but rotating with differing angular velocities such that the yarn is drawn with constant elongation over a measuring wheel 4 on which is a strain-gauge 5 which supplies an electrical signal U 1 , indicative of the radial force on the wheel, to a low-passfilter 8 thence to a chart recorder 9 recording the average value U 2 of the signal. A regulator 61, 62 is used to adjust the velocity of the second rollers and it is stated that a calibrated scale associated therewith may be used to indicate the elongation produced by a predetermined average force. The strain-gauge may be a Piezo-electric, inductive or capacitive transducer. The filter consists of an Rc circuit and may be disconnected by a switch 83 when the instantaneous value of the signal may be recorded. |
