An exhaust gas recirculation system having an upstream valve 200 and a downstream orifice 205, with a gauge pressure sensor 207 upstream of the orifice and an absolute pressure sensor 206 downstream of the orifice. A method for measuring flow through the orifice 205 in which atmospheric pressure is determined when flow through the orifice 205 is substantially zero, or less than a predetermined value. This estimate is then used along with the outputs from the upstream and downstream pressure sensors 206, 207 to measure flow through the orifice 205. |
