1331639 Treatment of liquids; milk treatment E HENSELER 30 Dec 1970 [14 Jan 1970] 61828/70 Headings A2B and A2D A plant for the treatment of liquid products (e.g. the treatment of milk in the production of skim milk, cream or yoghurt, or fruit juices) comprises at least one receiving station, one treatment station, one output station and one cleansing station from which sterilizing or cleaning liquid can be supplied to the other parts of the plant when desired, which stations are interconnectable by conduits, a coupling station connected to a cleansing station and to one or more of the other stations by pairs of conduits, one conduit of each pair being provided at its end which is located in the coupling station with a hose provided with a first coupling piece at its free end and the other conduit of each pair being provided at its end located in the coupling station with a second coupling piece, all the second coupling pieces fitting the first coupling pieces and the lengths of the hoses permitting each first coupling piece to be selectively connected to any of the second coupling pieces. In Fig. 1 the apparatus comprises a receiving station 11 (e.g. containing weighing or metering devices), a storage station 12 (e.g. comprising a number of tanks), a treatment station (e.g. comprising centrifuges), an output station 14 (e.g. containing measuring devices), a cleansing station 15 and a coupling station 16: The conduits 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 are provided at their ends in station 16 with hoses 18 which have coupling pieces 19 which can be coupled to any of the coupling pieces 20 on conduits 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. The coupling station may be connected to the other stations by more than two conduits, e.g. three in the case of the storage station 12. A programming station 17 is provided for programming the mode of operation of the plant. The programming station 17 is connected to the coupling station 16 through means, e.g. comprising relays, transistors, diodes and/or electronic switches, to ensure that the connections have been properly secured in the coupling station 16 according to the selected programme before liquid is passed through the conduits The plant may comprise lights to indicate the operating parts of the plant. The programming station may make use of punched cards. |
