PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst, by which both of the activity and the selectivity of the catalyst are improved. SOLUTION: The improved method for producing the catalyst comprises providing a mixed metal oxide expressed by experimental formula: Aa Vb Nc Xd Oe , wherein A is at least one element selected from Mo and/or W; N is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Te, Sb and Se; and X is at least one selected from Nb, Ta, Ti, or the like, obtaining a contact mixture by bringing the mixed metal oxide into contact with a liquid contact member, recovering an insoluble substance, firing the contact mixture under a non- oxidizing atmosphere, mixing the contact mixture with (i) at least one promoter element or its compound and (ii) at least one solvent for the at least one promoter element or its compound to form a mixture, removing the solvent to form a catalyst precursor and firing the catalyst precursor. |
