PURPOSE: A distributed multimodal system is provided to make a client-server system use a multimodal interface including a voice, a text and a graphic simultaneously and to be operated under a present script rule. CONSTITUTION: A client(100) includes a tool receiving the voice input and transmitting it to a server(200), the tool receiving the voice contents from the server and outputting it to a user, and a display tool receiving the non-voice input, transmitting it to the server(200) and displaying the text and graphic based contents data transmitted from the server(200). The server(200) includes the tool providing the voice and non-voice contents by responding to the voice and non-voice input, the tool for providing an extended Voice XML(eXtensible Markup Language) script embedded with the text and graphic based script, a Voice XML interpreter(250) outputting the voice output by interpreting the extended Voice XML script, and a dispatcher interface(255) for transmitting the text and graphic based contents data to the client(100) by processing the embedded text and graphic based script through the connection with the VoiceXML interpreter(250).
