The forming device (11) comprises a punch (15) operated by a drive mechanism, which bends an elongated staple blank (8) over an anvil, the blanks being stored in a magazine in the stapler and delivered to the anvil by a feed device. The punch is then removed from the essentially U-shaped staple and the latter is delivered by the feed device to a staple guide channel, where a driver (17) in the stapler will urge the staple into the material being stapled together. The forming device includes two catches (18, 19) that stop the staple legs from springing back until the staple reaches the guide channel. |
