<p>A method of attaching a loop to the envelope of a catamenial appliance comprises applying to the end of the envelope a molten substance (e.g. synthetic wax, polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl chloride) which is a flexible and non-tacky solid at 10-37 DEG C passing the end of the envelope through a loop, folding the end portion of the envelope back upon itself so as to embrace part of the loop and to cause the substance to contact another portion of the envelope, and applying pressure to the folded envelope to secure it in position. The catamenial appliance is a sanitary towel comprising a pad formed of a plurality of layers of cellulose wadding, a mass of pulverised cellulose enclosing the wadding, and a moisture pervious sheet surrounding the pulverised cellulose, the pad being enclosed in an evenlope of natural or synthetic fibres.</p> |
