METHOD OF RECOVERING NITROGEN OXIDES FROM RECOVERY BOILER FLUE GASES

The present invention relates to a method of removing nitrogen oxides fr om flue gases of a pulp mill recovery boiler. In order to oxidize nitrogen oxides, peroxide solution is sprayed to the flue gases having a temperature of 300 - 800.degree.C and flowing in the heat recovery section of the recovery boiler. The retention time of the flue gases in the contact zone of flue gases and peroxide solution is 0.5 - 5 seconds. The NO2 formed is recovered in a wet scrubber subsequent to the boiler.
