PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder where a limited recording rate onto a recording medium is not set as the upper limit of a compression rate. SOLUTION: An image audio recording reproducing device equipped with an image recorder is provided with an image compression circuit 13, a signal processing circuit 16, a memory 17, a system microcomputer 18, a driver circuit 19 and a rate control circuit 26. The system microcomputer 18 controls the signal processing circuit 16 to multiplex a digital dynamic image signal compressed by the image compression circuit 13 on an audio signal, and the multiplexed signal is stored once in the memory 17 and recorded on a recording medium 23 via the driver circuit 19. Thus, a compression rate which is higher than the recording rate recorded on the recording medium 23 is used instantaneously, and the image quality in the dynamic image signal for recording is improved. |
