PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device which is the electrophotographic system image forming device provided with an intermediate transfer belt and which is constituted so that an excellent image can be always obtained by instructing the exchanging time of the belt. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device is provided with a latent image carrier 9 constituted so that a toner image is formed on the surface by successively executing an electrostatic charge action, an exposure action and a developing action, the intermediate transfer body 19 rotated while being brought into contact with the carrier 9, a first transfer means 20 transferring the toner image of the carrier 9 on the transfer body 19 at a transfer part where the carrier 9 and the transfer body 19 are brought into contact with each other and a second transfer means 23-1 transferring the toner image of the transfer body 19 on a recording medium. Besides, it is provided with residual potential detection means 50a and 50b detecting potential left on the carrier 9, a decision means deciding the life of the transfer body 19 based on the measured value of the detection means 50a and 50b and an information means 52 informing the end of the service life of the transfer body 19 based on the decided result. |
