PURPOSE: A hold button for an automatic transmission lever used as an exhaust brake switch is provided to improve braking force by operating the exhaust brake switch and the hold switch simultaneously for decelerating suddenly with installing a common switch for inputting the signal. CONSTITUTION: In the hold mode of an automatic transmission, resistance is applied to rotation of an engine with compressing an exhaust manifold, and acceleration of a vehicle is prevented by restricting change of speed range over the predetermined range. A common switch(10) is installed as a hold button of an automatic transmission lever. An ECU(Electronic Control Unit,12) operates an exhaust brake, and a TCU(Transmission Control Unit,16) operates the hold mode of the transmission in inputting signals from the common switch to the ECU and the TCU. Braking force is increased by actuating the exhaust brake and the hold mode of the automatic transmission with operating the common switch.
