FIELD: electric devices measuring high voltages. SUBSTANCE: electrostatic voltmeter incorporates dielectric case, two electrodes which leads are connected to measurement terminals, mobile element, axle coupled to case and mounted for rotation, reading unit with scale in which cylindrical dielectric put on axle is used in the capacity of mobile element as distinct from prototype. Axle is coupled to case by means of spiral spring, scale of reading unit is deposited on butt of mobile element and electrodes are positioned at some angle with regard to normal to surface of mobile element. Value of this angle depends on material of which mobile element is made to secure highest torque of mobile element. With this in mind electrodes can be turned though above-mentioned angle. Reading unit of electrostatic voltmeters includes two light-emitting diodes, one for reading with immobile indicator and one for scale illumination. EFFECT: raised precision of electrostatic voltmeter. 1 cl, 1 dwg
