PURPOSE: A method for controlling a washing machine is provided to carry out various kinds of clothing according to various characteristics of the clothing through a plurality of special item modes, thereby carrying out the clothing washing efficiently. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a washing machine includes the steps of determining a mode among a plurality of special item modes for washing different items of clothing and a general mode for washing clothing which does not belong to the special items(S110-S120), and carrying out washing, rinsing and dehydration strokes according to the determined mode(S180), wherein the plurality of special item modes are distinguished at least one of the absorption force, pollution possibilities, damage possibilities, skin-contact possibilities and the like. |
