The cover for a furled sail (18), also known as a 'lazy bag', is in the form of an elongated bag of a supple material, made from two side panels (21a, 21b) that extend upwards from the boom. One of the panels has a series of flaps (28) attached to its upper edge, the free ends of the flaps being equipped with fastenings (29) that engage with connections (30b) on the opposite side of the cover. Additional flaps on the inside of the cover allow each panel to be rolled outwards and fastened when the sail is hoisted.
