PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discharging pig slag of a blast furnace, which can avoid troubles associated with rising up of a pig-slag retention level, by continuously and reliably grasping the pig-slag retention level on a hearth part of the blast furnace. SOLUTION: This method is characterized by implementing either a measure for reducing a pig-slag generation rate, or a measure for increasing a pig-slag removal rate, when potential differences measured among several points of the blast furnace body have exceeded the predetermined value.
