PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuations of an air/fuel ratio, even when a feedback gain is made large, while making a plant having a loss time a control object in an air/fuel ratio feedback control using a sliding mode control. SOLUTION: This air/fuel ratio control device is provided with a detection means (16) for detecting the air/fuel ratio of an exhaust gas, a compensation means (35) for compensating the dead time during the air/fuel ratio turning on a fuel supply is detected by the above detection means, by adding a disturbance compensator to the compensation control, based on Smith method, and a control means (22) for performing the air/fuel ratio feedback control using the sliding mode control by changing a fuel supply amount, in such a way that the air/fuel ratio compensated in dead time by the above compensation means coincides with a target ratio.
