PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a loss in production due to variation in a terminal group ratio of an aromatic polycarbonate or an unstable operation, which occurs at the replacement of filters in a step of producing the aromatic polycarbonate by a melt-polycondensation method. SOLUTION: After replacing a filter, the filter is washed with a solution containing a basic compound in a concentration of from 1 to 10,000 ppb and an aromatic hydroxy compound, before passing the solution again.
