PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverted stereomicroscope which makes inverted observation possible at a high contrast. SOLUTION: The inverted stereomicroscope having an observation optical path extending to a lower side of a sample has a stage 14 to be placed on with the sample 13, an optical path splitting element 15 arranged along the observation optical path extending to the lower side of the sample 13 below the stage 14, stereomicroscope units 7, 8, 9 and 10 arranged on the first optical path 22 split by the optical path splitting element 15, a reflection member 18 arranged below the optical path splitting element 15, an illumination optical system 6 arranged on the second optical path 23 deflected by the reflection member 18 and an illumination light source 11 arranged on the second optical path 23.
