PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for preventing the increase in blood-sugar level which comprises chlorogenic acids. SOLUTION: The chlorogenic acids of the present invention have an excellent PPAR-dependent gene transcription-activating activity, and particularly activates the lipid metabolism by activating the gene having the PPAR responsive element(PPRE) in a gene transcription-controlling area, and thereby they have effects on various lifestyle-related diseases. Taking the chlorogenic acids prevents and improves obesity, prevents the increase in blood-sugar level and reduces the blood-sugar level, prevents and improves hyperleptinemia and hyperinsulinemia, and accordingly prevents and improves diabetes. Furthermore, there is hardly anxiety about the side effects of the chlorogenic acids when they are taken as foods or medicinal drugs, since they have been usually taken as foods for a long time and are highly safe. |
