PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser power controller in which abnormal emission of a laser light source can be prevented at the time of making a switch from reproducing operation to recording operation or vice versa. SOLUTION: At the time of making a switch from reproducing operation to recording operation (St1) or from recording operation to reproducing operation (St3), APC control is not continued but a switching is made temporarily to constant current control by ACC. Since light can be emitted at an appropriate level from a laser light source through an ACC circuit even under such conditions as the target driving current level is different between recording and reproduction or during transient response period of the ACC circuit, abnormal emission of a laser light source can be prevented. |
