PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output R, G and B image signals from a CCD at approximately equal levels. SOLUTION: The CCD for photographing an object uses a charge multiplication type capable of multiplying signal charges stored in photo diodes. In initializing, a reference object is photographed to output R, G and B image signals, using high-, medium- and low-level charge multiplication drive pulses, respectively. The R, G and B image signals outputted from the CCD have approximately equal levels as the result.
