PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially excellent method for effectively producing styrene sulfonic acid esters in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing styrene sulfonic acid esters of the general formula (3) is provided by reacting styrene sulfonic acid chloride with an alcohol of the general formula (2) in the presence of tertiary amines, and as examples of the tertiary amines there are given aliphatic amines, substituted pyridines or aromatic amines of the general formulae (4)-(6) (in the formulae (2)-(6), R1 a 1-18C alkyl group, R2 -R4 are independently a 1-3C alkyl group, R5 and R6 are independently H or a methyl group, R7 and R8 are independently a 1-3C alkyl group).
