PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine capable of optimally performing the advance angle control of an intake valve closing timing, only when a prescribed negative pressure is needed in a negative pressure tank, without needing to provide a pressure sensor therein. SOLUTION: Brake conditions in Fig. 12 (c) are detected, and when a bake is applied and the pressure inside an intake pipe in Fig. 12 (e) is at a positive pressure side rather than the prescribed negative pressure, the closing position of the intake valve is advanced, so as to be shown as a point B in Fig. 12 (d). Since an intake air amount blown back from the inside of a combustion chamber to the intake pipe is reduced by advancing, the pressure inside the intake pipe is changed to the negative pressure side rather than the prescribed negative pressure. In other words, since the pressure inside the intake pipe is made negative accordingly, when the brake is applied, the negative pressure is introduced into a brake tank, only when it is necessary.
|
