PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily designate an output destination in data output to an output device connected to a network. SOLUTION: An output device such as a printer PRT1, a client 1 and an output control system 10 are connected to the network. The system 10 receives a job from the client 1 and transmits it to a designated output device. A transmission destination is designated by ability (attribute) which an output device has to satisfy. The system 10 detects the output device having this attribute from on the network to set the transaction destination. Each output device has its attribute and operating state managed unitarily by a lookup service 14 according to the protocol of Jini (trade mark). The system 10 refers to this to retrieve the output device. Thus, it is possible to output data to an out put destination having desired ability though the state of a network is not grasped. |
