PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a controller (CPU) from falling in malfunction state of microcomputer by making driving the power consumption to exceed accumulated power in the case that the controller (CPU) drives an hour and minute hands drive part from a forced microcomputer stopping state of output voltage in a power save 2 state (PS2). SOLUTION: In the power save 2 state (SP2), the controller 121 detects the output voltage of a secondary battery 113 or primary battery 213 with a voltage detection means 114. In the case of the output voltage of 1.25 V or less, the controller 121 switches the state of the electronic timepiece to a power save 1 state (PS1).
