PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manhole lid lock mechanism of which the engaging power does not weaken with the external factors such as loads, minute vibrations, etc., repeatedly acting upon the lid. SOLUTION: A lock mechanism for manhole lid according to this invention locks and unlocks a lid (5) in cooperation with a fixed engaging part (4) provided at the inner wall surface (3) of the entrance (2) of manhole (1), and has a supporting member (6), an engagement mechanism (7) and a click mechanism (8). The supporting member is for supporting the engagement mechanism and provided at the lid (5). The engagement mechanism is rotatably supported at its regular position by the supporting member and also in the way that its engagement part (71) can come to the position of engagement with the fixed engaging part of the manhole. The click mechanism consists of a click part (81) and a clicked part (82) cooperating with each other. The click part is provided at the supporting member and the clicked part (82) at the engagement mechanism (7).
