1,256,310. Aldehydes and alcohols by oxo process. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK A.G. 8 May, 1969 [9 May, 1968], No. 23536/69. Heading C2C. Aldehydes and alcoholes are produced by the hydroformylation of olefinically unsaturated compounds with CO and H 2 at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure in the presence of a carbonyl complex of a Group VIII metal which has been modified by a trisubstituted phosphine in which two substituents are methyl or ethyl radicals and the third substituent is a C 8-30 aliphatic radical. Suitable unsaturated starting materials are aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and araliphatic compounds of 2-20 C atoms. The catalyst may be a Co or Rh carbonyl modified by methyl ethyl C 12-24 phosphine. The catalyst metal to P ratio is preferably 1 : 1 to 1 : 6. In the example ocetene is hydroformylated using a Co carbonyl catalyst modified with dimethyldodecyl phosphine. |
