PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shadow mask of a cathode-ray tube, which is capable of eliminating distortions of slots caused in a press working without making curved beads for increasing the strength of a shadow mask shallow. SOLUTION: For a shadow mask before being pressed, rows of dummy slots 13 of which the width are narrower than that of a slot 10e are formed in an area beyond the most outside row in the horizontal direction of a perforated area 11 where slots are formed, and also in the vertical direction the dummy slots are formed up to an area beyond diagonally extended line 91 of the perforated area 11, consequently the tensile force in the press working is made hard to extend to the slot 10e due to the dummy slots.
