PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe column having a uniform outer peripheral shape capable of being welded at two spots, having sufficient strength, and being easily filled with a concrete. SOLUTION: The steel pipe column is composed of a long steel pipe 1 having a predetermined plate thickness and a short steel pipe 2 of the length L having a larger plate thickness than that of the long steel pipe 1 forming a beam material connecting part. The outer peripheral shape is finished and constituted by welding 5 the long steel pipe 1 and the short steel pipe 2 in the longitudinal direction letting the short steel pipe 2 as a beam material connecting position, and by hot forming after welding connection, and the concrete 13 is filled into its inside. The outer peripheral shapes of the long steel pipe and the short steel pipe can be finished by hot forming after welding connection. Sufficient strength of the beam material connecting part is secured by a predetermined thick plate thickness, and welding connection of the beam material can be performed without any trouble. The steel pipe column is finished in a state to have no built-in rib, backing metal and the like, and constitution filling the concrete and the like into its inside can be easily adopted. It can cope with the strength and fireproof by the concrete filled in its inside.
