PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein the output delay at continuous-printing caused by an image density control is prevented, and besides, images of stable tone are continuously outputted. SOLUTION: In addition to a 1st control mode for forming both of a reference image pattern for maximum density control and a reference image pattern for half tone control and controlling the density, the device is provided with a 2nd control mode for forming only the reference image pattern for the maximum density control and controlling the density, and a 3rd control mode for forming only the reference image pattern for the half tone control and controlling the density, and one of three control modes is selected as necessary so as to control the density. |
