PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power lead for the high temperature superconducting field coil of the rotor of a synchronous machine. SOLUTION: The resistive power lead of the field coil of a high temperature superconducting(HTS) rotor is arranged in a vacuum near the rotor axis, and the power lead is joined to the partition (18) of a tube via a ceramic insulating material (22), so that the lead is cooled through its heat conduction to a return channel (20). The length, section, and resistance of the lead are optimized so as to minimize heat conduction to a low temperature gas and heat transmission caused by an ohm resistance. The thermal expansion and contraction of the lead are absorbed at a bendable part on the ordinary temperature end and low temperature end of the lead.
