PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent continued sending of unused and unnecessary radio waves when a short range radio function of a portable telephone device is turned on, and reduce power consumption of a the device in the short range radio function to the minimum by transiting it to a low power consumption mode when there is no data to transmit/receive. SOLUTION: In a mobile station with the short range radio function, which is equipped with a radio unit (a receiver circuit 23, a transmitter circuit 24, a transmission/reception branch filter 22 and an antenna 21) for communicating with a base station and a short range radio unit (a short range radio control circuit 33 and a short range radio RF unit 38) for conducting short range communication different from the above, it is characterized in that a control means for transiting the short range radio function operated by the short range radio unit to a power saving mode according to the state of short range radio communications is also provided.
