PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic ring plate valve for piston compressor capable of surely guiding individual ring plates independently supported by springs while keeping a ventilation loss as small as possible without inconveniently increasing a structural height brought about by the structure of the springs or a loss space generated simultaneously therewith by solving defects of prior arts. SOLUTION: The diameter of a coil spring 4 is set to be substantially equal to or slightly smaller than the width of a ring plate 3 in the mounting position of the coil spring 4. The coil spring 4 is supported and guided, on a catcher 2 side, by an individual spring casing 7 seated on the bag hole-like cutout 5 of the circumferential web 6 of the catcher 2 and sufficiently closing the space occupied by the coil spring 4 at least toward the outside in the open state of the ring plate 3.
