CLOSURE DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A closure for enclosing a flexible container 11 that may contain any type of product. The closure is composed of a collar element 10 that surrounds the flexible container and can have one of several projections extending therefrom. The open end 13 of the flexible container 11 is compressed by use of an apparatus once a desired product is contained therein. The compressing apparatus contains two mateable die elements 32, 34 that, when engaged with each other, form an annular cavity or socket 24 that surrounds the neck 15 of a flexible container 11. Molten thermoplastic material is then injected via an inlet port to surround the neck 15 of a the flexible container 11 and harden to form a collar.
