961,338. Selector switches. GLOBE-UNION Inc. Sept. 26, 1961 [Feb. 20, 1961], No. 34537/61. Heading H2B. A switch wafer comprises a rotor R2 carrying conductive contacts 32 and a stator D having a number of spaced clip contact mounting stations each with an inner and an outer mounting position and carrying identical clip contacts 42 at least one of which is mounted in an inner position. The rotor R2 comprises two identical moulded plastics halves held together by studs 22 and supported against axial movement in the stator by shoulders 30. In a modification (Figs. 25-27, not shown), the rotor is in one piece and one of the shoulders 30 is resiliently displaceable so that the rotor may be snapped into place. The stator comprises a moulded plastics annulus having on each side twelve equally spaced pairs of studs 68, 70. Each clip contact (Fig. 5) has three apertures 46, 48, 50, two of which engage a pair of the studs 68, 70; two positions of the clips thus being possible. The tips of all studs 22, 68, 70 are melted and burred over to seal the contacts in position after assembly. In a modification (Figs. 12-24, not shown), the stator has a number of groups of three apertures in place of the studs, the contacts then having two depending lugs which pass through two of the apertures and are then bent over and welded. |
