DEVICE, KIT AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AND TRANSPORTING WET BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES

A kit for generating and transporting a biological sample of a secreted biological fluid, the kit including an absorbent pad for placing adjacent to the portion of the body and a portable device for preserving and/or pre-processing the wet sample. The pad includes a sampling membrane configured to retain at least one biological material. The pad can also be configured with a pouch to prevent the unintentional removal of the membrane from the pad, wherein the membrane has a tail extending beyond the pouch to be used by the user to remove the pad from the pouch when appropriate. The pad also preferable includes a sample detection grid to help the user determine when a sufficient amount of sample has been collected. The portable device has a housing formed from a base portion and lid portion which together define a sealable sample chamber for receiving the sampling membrane. An injector device can be configured to be activated by closing of the lid portion to inject a substance into the sample chamber.
