The counter mass carriage has a mobile frame connected to the crane and having two wheel sets with driven wheels. Each wheel (15,16) contains a separately controllable wheel hub motor (22,23) which can be driven hydraulically or electrically. Each wheel set swivels in discrete angles and on reaching the predetermined angular measure can be fixed in this position.
