COMMUTATOR OF START MOTOR

PURPOSE: A commutator of a start motor is provided to reduce abrasion due to contact between each segment and a brush by forming a gap between segments and rounding both ends of each segment. CONSTITUTION: A commutator(2) is connected to one side of an armature of a start motor in order to commutate current. Each segment(3) of the commutator(2) is installed separately to each other. A gap(4) is formed between the segment(3) of the commutator(2). A carbon brush(5) is contacted with a part of surfaces of the segments(3) in order to supply electric power. A bent portion(7) is formed at an edge portion of the segment(3). Accordingly, the bent portion(7) is formed at an end portion of acting area as a contact area between the brush(5) and the segment(3).
