The invention is based on a gear transmission with an input drive shaft (7) and coaxial thereto an output shaft (8) and a counter shaft (9) provided parallel to the two shafts, whereby the input drive shaft (7), via a shiftable gear sets (I to V and R) with, respectively, a fixed gear (10 to 14 and 22) and an idler gear (15 to 19 and 23) can be, in a driveable manner, connected with the counter shaft (9), which latter, via a constant gear set (K) is in continual connection with the output shaft (8). Proposed is, that a gear set (R) for reverse travel be placed on the input side of the gear transmission and that the sixth gear (6) can be shifted to form a direct gear through a shifting clutch (f), which, in its shifted condition connects the input drive shaft (7) directly with the output shaft (8) or with a fixed gear (20) on the output shaft (8).
