A rotatable surface aerator for the activated sludge process comprises blades 4 (which may be generally radial and vertical) having an annular inverted frusto-conical shroud 3 from the inner periphery of which extends upwardly an air intake 6; a downwardly extending liquid intake 5 is attached to the inner edges of the blades. In operation the outer edge of the shroud 3 is immersed in the liquid and aerated liquid is ejected from beneath it.</p> |
