Method for producing a sleeve for a print machine roller in which a first layer (5) is cut for the sleeve and then positioned on the cylinder where the ends (15, 25) are joined together in a nearly seamless manner by laser or electron beam welding. After application of the first layer a functional layer is applied on top of it.
