The invention concerns a method for generating electronic keys for implementing a cryptographic algorithm. The invention is characterised in that it consists in providing at least a key with size I sufficient to ensure required security (l >/= k bits, k = 64 bits or 512 bits depending on whether the algorithm is a private or public key algorithm), said key comprising a part corresponding to a value v taken from a specific number of values generated by a random generator and a part f corresponding to a fixed value. The invention is applicable to cryptography.
