An enzyme electrode which delivers an excellent measuring performance, is excellent in durability during an extended use, and is capable of a high−yield production, and a production method for the enzyme electrode using a wafer process especially suitable for mass production. The enzyme electrode comprises an electrode (2) provided on an insulation substrate (1), a immobilized enzyme layer (4) provided above the electrode (2), and a restricted permeation layer (6) disposed above the immobilized enzyme layer (4) and at the outermost surface, and, as required, a close contact layer (8) containing a silane−containing compound is provided above the enzyme layer (4) and the restricted permeation layer (6) is formed in contact with the upper surface thereof, or the restricted permeation layer (6) is formed of a film containing polymer mainly containing fluorine and having many grooves formed in the surface thereof, or having an uneven shape giving a surface roughness at least 0.0001 times and up to one time the average thickness to be selected in a range of 0.01 to 1 μm.
