Textiles such as bandages and surgical dressings are treated to inhibit bacterial or like growth thereon by impregnation with copper or zinc bacitracin preferably in aqueous solution and in such concentration as to precipitate 0.05-2% preferably 0.1-1.0% of the active material, based on the weight of the textile. The textile may be immersed in an aqueous solution of bacitracin and the copper or zinc compounds formed by adding the corresponding chlorides and adjusting the pH to precipitation point with sodium hydroxide. |
