PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to perform sterilization and deodorization actions by having an ultraviolet ray lamp and a light deodorization filter. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator is composed of an ultraviolet discharging lamp(24) for irradiating ultraviolet rays to a cold air duct(23) and a visible light to a cold storage compartment of the refrigerator; a light catalyst filter(25) installed in the air duct to receive the ultraviolet rays; a fan for forming an air curtain when a door of the cold storage compartment of the refrigerator is opened; and a control device for lighting the ultraviolet discharging lamp when the door of the cold storage compartment of the refrigerator is opened. In addition, the refrigerator comprises an operating device for setting or disabling an antimicrobial mode of the refrigerator; and the control device for lighting the ultraviolet discharging lamp for a preset interval and turning off the ultraviolet discharging lamp when the door of the refrigerator is opened, when the antimicrobial mode is disabled.
