PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to use a small number of light sources by mounting a pre-light guide for minimizing the backlight unit and reducing the power consumption, thereby extending the lifespan of the backlight unit. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit includes at least one or more light emitting diodes(31) for generating light, a pre-light guide(33) surrounding the light emitting diodes for converting spot light sources from the diodes to a linear light sources, a light guide plate(35) for converting the light from the light emitting diodes to a surface light source, a light reflecting plate positioned below the light guide plate for reflecting light advancing toward lower and sides of the light guide plate to an upper side of the light guide plate, and a diffusion sheet for diffusing the light passing through the reflecting plate. |
