SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERPOLATING SPACE BASE/TIME BASE FOR DEINTERLACING

PURPOSE: An interlacing system of a space base and a time base for deinterlacing and the method thereof are provided to offer the excellent definition by improving the processing efficiency of an edge with a slow inclination. CONSTITUTION: A movement detecting device(110) decides a movement value by using the difference of pixel values and receives the pixel values from plural reference fields to decide input images to plural movement areas according to the size of the movement value. An edge based median filter(120) differs the selection of a pixel according to the existence of an edge and receives the pixel values from the reference fields to decide a space interpolating pixel value of a selected pixel. A minimum absolute pixel difference filter(130) yields the difference of plural candidate pixels in front and rear fields and receives the pixel values from the reference fields to decide a time interpolating minimum pixel value by comparing with a critical value. A soft switch(140) decides to use any pixel among the pixel value from the edge based median filter, the pixel value from the minimum absolute pixel difference filter and the mixed pixel value. Thereby, direction components of the edge are yielded exactly and motion missing errors are removed. Moreover, the definition is improved.
